The Northland, north of the river
The Northland is the Clay and Platte County side of the city.
Neighborhoods include Briarcliff, Gashland, Shoal Creek, Staley Farms and Winnetonka.
Zona Rosa and Kansas City International Airport are Northland landmarks too.
The Northland is mostly suburban and has grown fast since the 2010s.

Hail across the Northland
Severe hail hit Kansas City and the Northland before dawn on May 8, 2024.
Tennis-ball hail fell in Liberty and Smithville in September 2019.
In May 2014, a supercell dropped 2-inch hail on Gashland.
